Thai Artists | Chatchai Puipia
Chatchai Puipia (b. 1964) graduated from Silapakorn University and is one of Thailand's most well known artists. He works mostly as a painter, but also with sculptures. Most of the works are self-portraits, often in a twisted and amusing way so as to use himself as a metaphor or mirror of today's society and its issues and problems. Fake is probably a word that can be used as a description for the troubled society he addresses in his works. His works are featured in several museum collections, such as the National Gallery of Singapore, the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, Japan as well as others. He took part in the Singapore Biennale in 2006.
